  1. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
    – variously attributed to Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln and Benjamin Franklin

  2. Care to complete the sign in the background…? My guess: "Texas is not a Mexican colony." It used to be, ya bustards. Your first language was Espanol.

  3. you are right on, jaypo. one of the things that drives me the craziest about the whole thing. I wonder what it must have been like back in the 1850s for a Mexican family that had own their land for 6-8 generations to be told by soldiers of (likely) German/Scot/Irish/British/French descent, "get off our land! this is Texas now!"

  4. Oh ma GAD. Awesome, mariser!!! Offal-cal language. Yeah, that's the ticket!Sigh. Ignorance abounds.

  5. Hur English not so gud.jaypo: Actually, wasn't it Apache & Commanche (native American) before the Iberians. Then again, they didn't belief the land belonged to them….We need to get off the concept of exclusion. We've always been a big melting pot of cultures. And at one time (oh, say, pre 20th century) knowing multiple languages was considered a part of an excellent education.
