[this is sad]

I can't believe Reading Rainbow will be gone.  why doesn't PBS cancel Antiques Roadshow which hasn't been fun in ages?

  1. what really kills me is that the article goes on to say "…that PBS, CPB and the Department of Education put significant funding toward programming that would teach kids how to read —."Reading Rainbow taught kids why to read," Grant says. "You know, the love of reading — [the show] encouraged kids to pick up a book and to read." that is getting totally backwards. why would you care to know how to read if there weren't any books you want to read?

  2. Antiques Roadshow hasn't been fun since eBay came on the scene. Now you can just look up what your stuff is worth…or at least get a good estimate.(I never watched Reading Rainbow, though. According to my parents, I was born with the ability to read, speak, and walk upright.)

  3. The reason Antiques Roadshow stays is because it has that ka-ching! factor. People want to know if they're going to get instantly rich if they have something similar in the basement. No dollar signs in the eyes on Reading Rainbow.

  4. That stinks. Fun show.

(Of course, Geordi would've gotten a bigger audience if he'd put his VISOR back on.)

  5. Today's economy is based upon, shut up, sit down, watch cable, eat McDonalds, Surf porn and be happy.
I mean, look what happened when they retired the Conjunction Junction dude. he made his own DVD and is selling it in stores and on late night TV!

  6. Man, this really stinks. What a shame. I grew up on this show. The song still gives me warm fuzzies (I love when it comes up on shuffle on my ipod).
