  1. Those are all great…but I think your favorite is my favorite, too! Ha! Last tag is also completely true!!!

  2. I completely missed balloon boy until about three days later. I feel like I really missed out on something important. Of course, anyone with even a slight familiarity with gravity would realize a balloon made of foil wouldn't be able to fly away if there was a boy inside.

  3. hilarious! but my fave is definitely the spin-off of "the fresh prince of bel-air." that rhyme is DOPE. :)

  4. you were lucky to have missed it. we all know it was a hoax now, but before we knew, to watch that fragile half-broken balloon bouncing and twisting in the wind was breathtaking. I watched a few minutes of the coverage in msnbc and had to turn it off.

  5. The Twitterverse was going nuts – because everyone on Twitter thinks no one else on Twitter knows what they know. I didn't know what was going on but when I saw 9 out of 10 feeds about it, I lost all interest out of principle.
I never actually saw any news coverage – I figured everyone else had it covered and adding my interest to it would be superfluous.

  6. Oh – and on Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me, I think it was Mo Rocca (sp?) who said "Let's get this right. He's not Balloon Boy. He's Crawl-Space Boy."

  7. In the UK we didn't get the coverage you did. I heard about it on the Today programme's 8 o'clock news, between suicide bombers and our postal strike, so did not pay it a whole lot of attention. Being an avid X-Files fan, I love the I Want to Believe one. And the College Humor scolding video cuts quite close to the bone, I think.

  8. Luckily, being on west coast time and having stayed up too late the night before, by the time I got up, ate, and turned on the computer, it was all over and the hoax speculation had started.I did see there were a few voices of reason pointing out the sheer impossibility of the physics while it was happening — much reference to Mythbusters.

  9. Hehehe! I like the one with the buttcrack hanging out below the balloon.
I haven't followed much of the coverage, but I do read some of the comment threads on the local newspaper forum. (I know…I'm a masochist.) As usual, there are people harping about how "stupid" the Sheriff was because he didn't know right from the start that it was a hoax. After all, "they" knew it all along.
Nevermind the fact that cops don't generally conduct their investigations through the press. And they're also hampered by a teensy, weensy, little requirement to have evidence before they start throwing charges around.

  10. I'm totally with you, TS.. there was no way for anyone (except the parents, who created the hoax) to know with any certainty that little Falcon was/was not on the balloon. in a case like this how could the authorities or anyone else stand back and say "well, the boy probably isn't on the balloon"

  11. I started to un-believe when I read they had video footage the one brother had taken of Falcon climbing into the balloon. That seemed way too conveeeeenient.

  12. I was glad that I was oblivious to the entire drama until it was over, too. I would have been in such a tizzy, worrying for a poor little six year old and his frantic family. I'm still pissed off that they would be such a-holes. Those poor kids, living with buttheads like that.

  13. That's classic.
Now please go about your normal activities like always. Otherwise, the balloonists have won.
