funnier than watching kittens

a few weeks ago a fellow of name Scott Brown won the race to take over the Senate seat of the late lamented Ted Kennedy.  the Republicans were happy, but the extreme bizarro wing of the Republican party (teabaggers for short), were ecstatic.  this Scott guy was going to bring down Obama single-handedly and take his women, force him to show his real birth certificate, or something like that.  teabaggers are not big on details.

imagine then the disappointment and fury of the teabaggers after finding out today that Scott Brown voted to allow for cloture on a jobs bill.  by so voting, the bill can now proceed to the full Senate for a final vote.

the fun part is to watch the outrage boil over on Scott Brown's twitter and on his FaceBook.  why, folks are so upset, they may actually defriend mr. Brown.  serious shit.

@ScottBrownMA right now i am so furious that i don't care about your thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for supporting me,now that I'm sitting in the peoples seat, you can all GO TRUCK YOURSELVES!!!

you should be tried for treason by your voters

YOU ARE A CON AND A LIBERAL SHILL!!! AT LEAST I KNEW THIS A/B YOU B/F BUT I PITY THOSE WHO LOOKED INTO YOUR DARLING EYES AND SWOONED WHILE THEY ATE EVERY FREAKING LIE YOU SPOKE!!

TIME TO UNFRIEND YOUR LYIN ASS YOU TRAITOR…..I HOPE MY DONATIONS AND TIME SPENT TO HELP YOU GET ELECTED,PLEASES YOUR PATHETIC ASS…YOU HAVE YOUR NERVE…LYING AND DECEIVING WILL HAUNT YOUR ASS. I WISH YOU BAD LUCK, AND KARMA, YOU ASSHOLE……

the perils of Karaoke – a pre-KttD warning

I will not be attending KttD X.
not that I don't care for those attending.  I hope participants and guests emerge from the Rock-It grill alive and well.

this hope impels me to share with you this warning:  beware, beware,  My Way.  the NYT article below describes how  My Way  has wound a path of destruction and fear in karaoke bars all over the Philippines.

from the article

Filipinos, who pride themselves on their singing, may have a lower tolerance for bad singers.

the country’s many Sinatra lovers, like Mr. Gregorio here in this city in the southernmost Philippines, are practicing self-censorship out of perceived self-preservation.

“The trouble with ‘My Way,’ ” said Mr. Gregorio, “is that everyone knows it and everyone has an opinion.

if it can happen in the Philippines, it can happen at the Rock-It grill.  be safe

another fantastic time waster

erm.  did I say time waster?
no, no.  rather a way to sharpen our critical thinking about the images we see everyday, everywhere

I mentioned in the comments of a recent post by IG, that I am newly addicted to Sociological Images – interesting, provocative, thoughtful – a delight.
the comment section can get hairy very quickly – or bogged down in academic minutiae. so be warned

CLLCT – the Collective Family gives you neat music

The Collective Family is a group of artists who give their music away! We got together and decided we’d rather share our music so that more people could enjoy it. After all, isn’t the most noble goal of mankind to make neat music and then put it online for free? Well, we think it is, anyway.

I havent’ listened to much from CLLCT but I’m weirdly in love with this:  something that seems horrible in concept

“hey, lets redo Neutral Milk Hotel’s On an Aeroplane Over the Sea

except just one person singing and strumming an ukelele”

yet it works.
