Rest in Peace, Elizabeth

How very sad to hear Elizabeth Edwards has died.  hope her death was a peaceful one.

Elizabeth Edwards, 1949-2010

“Resilience is accepting your new reality, even if it’s less good than the one you had before,” she said. “You can fight it, you can do nothing but scream about what you’ve lost, or you can accept that and try to put together something that’s good.”

In Resilience, Elizabeth Edwards contemplated her own death, writing that it didn’t seem as frightening to her since she lost her oldest son. Reflecting on how she wants to remembered, she repeated one of her favorite metaphors. She wrote that at times, the wind didn’t blow her way, but she said she was still able to stand in the storm, adjust her sails and move forward.

  1. I was just reading this morning how she posted a touching farewell on her Facebook page and that her family was with her yesterday. I didn’t think she would go so soon. How very sad. She was an honorable person, one I had come to admire. Yes, she stood strong during many storms.

    Rest in peace, Elizabeth.

    • after yesterday’s news, I think we all learned her death was imminent, but not quite this soon. Elizabeth was a woman of immense strength and grace; she will be missed.

      • I thought, after yesterday’s announcement, that she’d have a few weeks. but I guess she didn’t want the rest of us to hassle about it.
