the Arnold thing

I thought the “master-of-the-house-has-sex-with-a-female-household-staffer-producing-a-child-that-is-hidden-for-years” trope was the exclusive dominion of south American soap operas.
way to prove me wrong, Arnold.

…perhaps the fault lies with cable companies: has anyone checked whether the Schwarzenegger-Shriver household had access to Telemundo and/or Univision?

Tea & Crackers | Matt Taibbi reports on the TeaParty for Rolling Stone Politics

I hope Matt Taibbi is getting a book deal.   brilliant, merciless.

“In the Tea Party narrative, victory at the polls means a new American  revolution, one that will “take our country back” from everyone they  disapprove of. But what they don’t realize is, there’s a catch: This is
America, and we have an entrenched oligarchical system in place that insulates us all from any meaningful political change. (…) it’s only a matter of time before the uprising as a whole gets castrated, just like every grass-roots movement does in this country. Its leaders
will be bought off and sucked into the two-party bureaucracy, where its platform will be whittled down until the only things left are those that the GOP’s campaign contributors want anyway: top-bracket tax breaks, free trade and financial deregulation.”

U2 to play free show to mark fall of Berlin Wall

BERLIN — Achtung, baby: U2 will play a free concert in Berlin to help the city celebrate 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall.Music network MTV said the Irish rockers will perform in front of the Brandenburg Gate on Nov. 5 during the MTV Europe Music Awards.  The show will be beamed into the awards ceremony at Berlin's O2 World arena. U2 manager Paul McGuinness said it would be exciting to be in Berlin, "20 years almost to the day since the wall came down." The wall fell Nov. 9, 1989, ending almost 30 years of separation between east and west. U2's 1991 album "Achtung Baby" was partly inspired by the band's stay in the city.

Bedtime for Gonzo

fuckin' A
and
Hallelujah

now comes the fear:  who will be dragged off the deep morass of this administration to replace him?

based on pure, unadulterated ineptitude and blatant politicking, the likely choice has to be Michael Chertoff
